MORE INFO: Elvis returned to Las Vegas in 1969, with his show opening at the International Hotel on July 31 to rave reviews and packed houses. So successful was his opening night show that Colonel immediately negotiated a more favorable contract (on a tablecloth) with Alex Shoofey, president of the International, that very evening. The following year, Elvis? 1970 Summer Festival was documented in the MGM film
Elvis: That?s the Way It Is
, which chronicled his return to live performances.
This exact type of banner is depicted in the documentary film taped during the Summer Festival that began on August 10, 1970. This beautifully new collection of four hanging banners includes: a purple banner that states, ?Elvis Summer Festival / International Hotel Las Vegas Nevada? in big white letters; a yellow banner with bold white lettering that states, ?Elvis Summer Festival / International Hotel Las Vegas Nevada?; an orange banner that states, ?Elvis Summer Festival / MGM Studios? in white letters; and a red satin banner with large white lettering that states, ?Elvis Big 50 / RCA Records.?
FYI the International became the Hilton, the Las Vegas Hilton and is now the Westgate Hotel.
