Description
These rare drawings from Elvis Presley's early career, are perhaps a signpost for what was to come for Elvis in his last years of performing. These drawings, on Hotel New Jefferson letterhead, in Shreveport, Louisiana, are most likely from one of Elvis' stays at the Hotel whilst performing on Louisiana Hayride. It is well known that in the 1950's, Elvis' rock and roll style of perofrmance suited the small three-piece outfit of Scotty, Bill and Elvis, but later in his career, Elvis would be surrounded by a wall of sound, including up to 16 backing vocalists, the TCB Band, and an orchestra. These drawings depict a range of orchestral instruments - bugle, cymbals, clarinet, violin, triangle, trombone and a lyre (or harp).
Elvis' love of, appreciation for, and aspirations for music are well-documented in this prophetic piece of history!
It comes with LOA from Eddie Demmel, whose mom was best friends with the person who collected the sheet of paper from Elvis' suite, including this very early autograph.
Approx. 24cm x 15cm
