    Description

Pressbooks were sent only to theater owners to promote and advertise the movie and are extremely rare especially without cuts. This collection has been of the utmost importance to me and has been stored in a temperature controlled room for many years in a non-smoking home with 2 Hepa air filters and in the summer a strong dehumidifier.
Please note that these images were all scanned, so you have a perfect example of what you are getting. Some pressbooks have thinner pages and the scanner with the very bright light often will pick up the print on the other side, so please keep that in mind when looking at the photos and also the scanner may produce shadows on the sides which aren't there. I am cutting down on my collection and offering many rare pressbooks. Please understand that pressbooks were made to be cut up by theater managers for promotion and to place advertisements in the newspapers, so uncut pressbooks may be hard to find on many titles, and many have been sold off now over the years since Ebay and other auction sites have been in business since the late 1990's. A pressbook with minimal cuts (most of ours are uncut) still has value.
Also note that many of these are very old, so over time the paper may have slightly darkened, this is normal, you won't find many pressbooks from the 30's through the 70's with bright white paper. If a pressbook has darkened more than average,m we will ALWAYS describe that in our listing. Finally, we do not believe in short descriptions and leaving it up to chance for your satisfaction. We try to list EVERY issue if there are any, instead of just saying "normal wear" or "slight use" or other general terms. We want you to know, since these are collectibles, exactly the condition of the pressbook (which is why we chose to purchase an industrial scanner to be able to scan the largest pressbooks). There is nothing more accurate than a scan.
ABOUT FOX CINEMASCOPE PRESSBOOKS: In 1953, as television started to become something everyone wanted in their home, the movie studios knew they had to compete and develop something to keep people in theaters. 20th Century Fox developed CINEMASCOPE, a widescreen process that would exhibit the picture on a huge screen in a very wide format and introduced at the same time 4 channel stereophonic sound, that had only been experienced in several movies like This is Cinerama and Fantasia. 20th Century Fox developed a new format for the first few years of these releases for their pressbooks, a huge (usually 14" x 20") size, these are among some of the best pressbooks of the 1950's. I now proudly begin to offer almost every one of these for auction from my Cinemascope collection. We will offer as many photos of these as possible for your viewing. Many of these are very hard to find, and many that we have are in near mint condition or close.

    UNCUT
    20th Century Fox
    Pressbook for the film
"D DAY THE SIXTH OF JUNE"
    starring
Robert Taylor, Dana Wynter, Richard Todd, Edmund O'Brien
This pressbook has previously been folded. There is some very light soiling on the left side of the cover in the blank grey area, and some light rippling on the very right from about 4 inches from the bottom to 7 inches from the bottom, and it goes inward from the right edge about an inch, ALL of this is the blank border area. There is also some very light soiling on the back cover at the top at the fold (see photo), the soiling on the front and back very light, the rest including all areas where there is print is in excellent condition. No cuts or markings. Please note the scanner does not pick up 3d images so it does not pick up the light rippling area described above.
The pages of this pressbook are printed on a beautiful glossy paper. An original piece (NOT A COPY) of Hollywood nostalgia! This is a title rarely seen on Ebay!
PLEASE NOTE THAT MOST OF THE PHOTOS FOR THIS AUCTION SHOW ONE FULL PAGE, some may show 2 or more pages.
This auction includes an original studio one sheet poster (27" x 41") from the film
(see last photo)! This poster is NOT a copy or reproduction but a studio original. While pressbooks are my main business, I am now including other movie collectibles  that I have amassed over the years. The pressbook in all of our auctions is the main item because that is my specialty. I do not grade or describe the condition of the posters as I am not an expert on movie posters, stills or lobby cards, it is up to you to study the photo as to the poster's condition. We guarantee that the photo posted here is a direct photo of the poster included (the poster image can be enlarged). Some posters have some kind of defect  whether it might be pinholes or writing on the back, blemishes, tears, creases, taped areas, an area with a rippled effect (probably from dampness, which can usually be seen on the scans, but not always) so please look very carefully as most of these have been used by theaters. On the other hand as I look through these, some are in great condition as well and a few look like they were never used. So it is up to you to study the photo.
THESE POSTERS ARE INCLUDED AS IS
    PRESSBOOK NUMBER OF PAGES: 16
    SIZE:  14" x 18"
    YEAR: 1956, ORIGINAL RELEASE

    ABOUT SHIPPING:
ALL PRESSBOOKS ARE MAILED WITH A COLLECTABLE PLASTIC COVER AND IN A LARGE STURDY CARDBOARD AND ALL ARE MAILED UNFOLDED!!!  THERE IS  A CHOICE OF MAILING SPEEDS. IF YOU SELECT MEDIA MAIL, YOU ARE WAITING UNTIL THE ITEM SHIPS THE FOLLOWING Tuesday plus about 4-9 days in shipping. Priority is usually much quicker, but we still ship everything on Tuesdays.
    ABOUT MY FEEDBACK:
Since Ebay does not allow sellers to respond to negative feedback, I will do so here.   You will note I have a few negatives now.  The feedback that I have received that is negative (3 out of about 1,050), one person never contacted me that they were sent a pressbook with a cut in it (by mistake). I certainly would have corrected the problem immediately if they had just told me. I replaced it immediately. The other 2 are from someone who misunderstood that I send my pressbooks out on Tuesdays and they go Media Mail, which is always an additional 4-8 days. This at least keeps the postage down. I do have an option for priority mail if you are in a rush.  I completely refunded her total postage (after the negative feedback) even though the items were sent as stated.
If you have a problem, PLEASE contact me and I will do everything I can to correct an error.
This is my personal pledge to all of my customers.
    ABOUT ME:
I have been a movie fan all of my life, my grandfather worked for both Universal and RKO, and my mother was an editor at Paramount. At age 8 I was taken to the offices and saw piles of pressbooks stacked up.  I loved the pressbooks as they had many pages of information of these movies and such great old movie advertising and could be read many times over. I have collected since I was 8. When I obtained a pressbook, it would immediately go into a plastic bag and was taped shut so no air reached these.  My father owned a furniture store which I worked in for 10 years and the first thing and most important thing he taught me was customer relations, to treasure each and every customer, so I am an old-fashioned seller who cares about each sale. I am ALWAYS available to talk to about anything you might be interested in from my store, and if anything does not please you, I guarantee I will do my best to make you happy.
I WILL ONLY SHIP TO PAYPAL CONFIRMED ADDRESSES!
